What’s the difference between our two cross-country sets?
Not all cross-country is the same
At Pesko, you can rent either our “Classic” cross-country set or our “Skating” set. The equipment is different, as are the concrete uses for that equipment.
The “Classic” set consists of skis, poles and boots. The skis in this set are longer than their counterparts for “skating”, intended to be used on classic cross-country trails. To make it easier to climb hillsides, the skis feature different zones. The climbing zone, directly below the binding, allows you to get a powerful push-off even going uphill. The classic option is especially suitable for beginners.
The full “Skating” cross-country set also includes skis, telescopic poles and boots. This ski is shorter and more rigid than the classic version. Skating skis are primarily designed for cross-country skiing on prepared surfaces and stretches through open terrain. The entire running surface consists of a single gliding zone. This is why skating is the preferred technique for more ambitious XCers.

Ski trails filled with variety, both day and night
The 56 kilometres of cross-country trails in Lenzerheide offer a full range of difficulty. Here, cross-country skiers of all kinds find just what they have been looking for, including a trail destined to become their personal favourite.
For rookies, we recommend an XC tour right here in Lenzerheide. The start is at the old ski-school grounds, next to the bus stop by Hotel Sunstar Lenzerheide. The trail then leads you towards Heidsee, past Kinderland Lenzerheide and the tennis courts. This is followed by a climb, before the trail takes you alongside the lake as far as the Valbella Cross-Country Centre and Kiosk Canols. From there, the same trail will bring you back to Lenzerheide
For experienced XCers, we suggest the Capfeders and Bual trails. In this case, there are some vertical gains involved, though you are rewarded by imposing views of the Lenzerheide high valley. The four kilometres-long night trail is mainly intended for experienced cross-country enthusiasts as well.
For true “pros”, the La Pala race trail is the perfect destination. Steep climbs, extended glides and challenging sections make this trail a home-away-from-home for experienced XCers wanting to leave no doubt as to their physical conditioning.
